Service Beyond Worship

At Sree Ramar Temple, service (Seva) is more than a spiritual duty—it is a commitment to uplifting the community with compassion, generosity, and inclusivity. Guided by the principles of dharma and care for all, the Temple has been at the forefront of multiple charitable initiatives that nourish, support, and empower individuals across all walks of life.

“Feeding the body, nourishing the soul.”

Launched recently, the Sree Ramar Annadhana Seva is a heartfelt initiative that provides wholesome vegetarian lunches every Saturday and on special devotional occasions. With the backing of 556 generous donors, the Temple has successfully distributed over 7,700 meals to date.

The initiative is made possible through the selfless service of volunteers who prepare and distribute meals with devotion and care. The Temple also extends invitations to elderly residents from homes such as SASCO, Sunlove Active Ageing Centre @ Serangoon, and Ashram HEB, welcoming them to partake in the Annadhanam. Special prayers are offered to bless both the donors and beneficiaries, embodying the spirit of gratitude and grace.

Project Akshaya

“Seva that sustains—monthly food support for the needy.”

Running since August 2008, Project Akshaya is the Temple’s flagship monthly food ration initiative that supports 65 families in need, regardless of race or religion. In collaboration with agencies like SINDA and Family Service Centres, volunteers carefully identify and reach out to disadvantaged households, including disabled individuals.

Each month, food rations are distributed at the Temple's event hall, and special arrangements ensure home delivery for those with mobility challenges. During Deepavali, the Temple also brings festive joy by distributing sweets and savouries to all Akshaya beneficiaries.

“A community’s collective offering of grain and grace.”

Introduced during the sacred month of Purataasi, this initiative encouraged devotees to donate rice as an offering for the Purataasi Saturday prayers and weekly Annadhanam. Thanks to the generosity of over 1,000 donors, more than 5,000 kilograms of rice was collected—feeding thousands of devotees and contributing to Project Akshaya as well.

In the spirit of inter-organisational support, 700 kgs of the collected rice was also donated to charities including Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities – Active Ageing Centre and Yayasan Mendaki, reinforcing the Temple’s inclusive approach to service.

A Community Rooted in Compassion

Every act of service at Sree Ram Temple is driven by the philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”—the world is one family. Through structured initiatives and sustained volunteer efforts, the Temple continues to be a beacon of light, nurturing both spiritual growth and social responsibility.

We welcome all devotees, well-wishers, and community members to contribute, participate, and join hands in these noble endeavours.

Let your devotion extend into action. Be a part of Seva.
